Joining Adelaide PEN
It’s easy in a city like Adelaide to think that writers, journalists, and publishers can write and print whatever they like, whenever they like. Unfortunately, this isn’t so.
Everyday, somewhere in the world, writers are being censored, attacked, imprisoned, and sometimes even killed for the words they have dared to write. Last year, International PEN monitored 1009 such cases.
It has become more important than ever for PEN to continue its vital work.
As a member of Adelaide PEN you will be helping the constant fight for freedom of expression in our own country and elsewhere, and will have the opportunity to be involved events designed to promote issues of concern to PEN.
You don't have to be a writer or publisher to be an active PEN supporter.
Writer membership is open to writers, editors, translators, poets, playwrights and others involved directly in the world of writing and publishing.
Associate membership is open to anyone who supports PEN’s mission.
All members agree to abide by the PEN Charter and the rules of their Centre.
